Last Scenario is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. A rather typical kind of rpg, but with enough twists and an interesting story to make the journey well worth taking.

The latest version of the game can always be found here:

Past the first save point of the mausoleum is where the enemies encountered are changed up to feature black versions of three more chess pieces, the Pawn (Quite fast, can show up in groups of four), Knight (slow, but with lots of attack power and hp), and Bishop (Can do damage...if it doesn't waste half of its turns using weak ailment moves the whole team nullifies).

Black Bishops get another mention for one big reason...they have Serpent Eyes up for stealing and as their drop. I'll be farming some more of these after this video in preparation for the final boss of the game.

Like the start of the dungeon, there's a fork in the road right away. Unlike it though, either way is fine to take. If you go through the western door first though, you'll want to head down the staircase to the west after passing through. It leads to a hallway connecting to the eastern door at the fork, but there's a room on the way with a new spellcard inside, Trick.

Trick is...a thing. Either you can inflict chaos on yourself with it or use the crisis ability to kill yourself. Seems like a joke...until you look at the stat boosts. It grants 10% boosts to hp, mp, strength, intelligence, and speed. Matilda takes this spellcard pronto.

The only other item in the second half is located as you go east across a bridge. You should see the chest on the south side of the area, but it seems unreachable. Upon reaching the end of the bridge, there's a bit of light showing an entrance in the southern wall leading to said chest containing Mashimizu's Robe. The slow immunity on the armor is decent, but more importantly alongside the solid defenses, grants +50 dex and +100 spd. This is Matilda's best armor if you ask me. Vitality that's only a pinch lower than the Dragon Armour, but gives her a much appreciated big boost to her resistance. The speed boost coupled with the Trick spellcard still makes her the slowest character, but she's now only a pinch behind Lorenza usually. More importantly, she can outspeed a large portion of the enemies now.

The rest of the dungeon isn't much to talk about until the main attraction of the dungeon, the Black King boss.

Unlike the other two chess piece bosses, the Black King is not one you want to take lightly. He's packing 150k hp, high offensive stats, and can absorb dark. He's slower than the entire party though which means bouncing back from his attacks is much easier.

Black King will typically open his first round of combat with the Edge of Death skill. This hits the entire party and drops them all to 1 hp. Given your team's much higher hp totals, this can be a rather nasty move to recover from. Thankfully, any two of M-Renew (Full Cure's crisis ability), Fury, or a Diamond Dust will bring the team to a safe hp level if you're utilizing shields.

The king's two AoE moves are both dark elemental. Negative Pulse inflicts poison and can very well be a fatal deathblow if you don't remove the ailment before Edge of Death gets used. Warding Charms or the Arch-Angel's Halo makes this a nonissue though. Abyssal Reign is just straight dark damage, roughly 1500-2000 without shields up.

Finally, the king has Humiliation which is more ailment shenanigans that'll never come to pass on my team along with some light damage and Cleave, his sole attack that merits any need for shields in this battle. Even then, Matilda can survive a hit at full health and Hilbert could likewise do so if he's got the Spring Hat equipped.

Not much to say about this fight otherwise. If you happened to defeat Alexander before coming here, the king should be well within your abilities to defeat without issue. Just be sure to steal because there's a nice King's Armour up for grabs. Male only, but has very high vit along with the ability to absorb dark. Ethan will be putting this on after the battle.

Once the king gets checkmate'd, he drops two new things. One is his tile which you may or may not have depending on enemy drop or Hex game playing luck. Either way for me, it's the final tile in the game, meaning the superboss after the ending credits can be challenged.

The other drop is a new spellcard, Gamma. For 300 mp, this inflicts a highly random amount of non-elemental damage to a target. Its crisis ability isn't a Nova Strike to all enemies like from the Megaman X series, but it may as well be. Called Nuke, this costs 999 mp to hit all enemies with, as the game claims, "unspeakable damage". Going to have to see what Lorenza can do with this spellcard offscreen.

With that, this game is almost at its end, but one final challenge awaits and I need to be sure I'm as prepared as I can be for it.
