Let’s Replay Deus Ex #39: Making a Stealthy Getaway*
143We’ve explored the Versalife labs pretty thoroughly and despite all that we’ve taken, the places we’ve gone without authorisation, the people we’ve pestered and the creatures we’ve let loose on the staff, nobody really cares about what we’ve done so far. We can make them hostile by attacking them directly but we’ve been very careful not to do that, not that it’s hard to avoid doing so. Unfortunately, the data we want to steal is highly sensitive, so much so that every single person in the lab goes hostile as soon as you download the ROM for the Dragon’s Tooth sword, no matter where they are or what they’re doing.
Everyone being hostile can make escaping quite tricky, but we’re fortunate to have a plethora of options at our disposal to make getting out of here easier. We could use our augmentations to sneak by without anyone noticing – our cloaking aug was made for an event such as this – and there are ventilation ducts we can use to get around, though there are a few creatures in there we’ll need to take care of. If we had thermoptic camo at this point, we could use that to get away without so much as firing a shot. Alternatively, we can throw stealth out of the window entirely and blast our way to freedom.
Guess which of these methods we’re going to be using.
