Two players (human or computer opponents) face off in six vivid arenas alive with atmosphere and motion. Choose from six cool characters and duel your way through nearly 80 incredible levels. Bricks swoop and spin, explode and move in all kinds of ways, creating a dynamic and highly interactive field of play. Nine power-ups allow you to strategically choose when and where to use them. The game comes with a level editor so you can make new levels and share them with other players.

Controls

In the Game Settings menu, one player or the other can use a mouse for control. The Left Mouse Button will invoke the current Power (if you have enough Mana), and the Right Mouse Button will cycle through the available Powers. Any unlocked Powers will be available when you have enough Mana to purchase them during play

Default keyboard controls are as follows. These can be changed in the Change Controls screen (accessible from the Character Selection screen).

Player 1 (Left side of the arena)

W - Move up
S - Move down
A - Previous power (aka Left)
D - Next power (aka Right)
Space - Invoke current power (aka Invoke)
Player 2 (Right side of the arena)

Up Arrow - Move up
Down Arrow - Move down
Left Arrow - Previous power
Right Arrow - Next power
Enter - Invoke current power (aka Invoke)

Buying Powers

Press Left or Right to change the current Power (or use the Right Mouse Button to cycle through them). The currently selected Power is always shown at the top of the screen, beside the scoreboard. The icon for the Power will fill with color as you gather Mana. When you have enough, the icon will enlarge and you can press Invoke to use it in exchange for Mana.

So, to buy a power:

Press Left/Right keys or click Right Mouse Button to choose the Power you want to use.
Press Invoke to buy it once you have enough Mana.

Rounds and Matches

A "match" is a set of 2 or more "rounds." If you win 2 rounds then you win the match. If a round is tied, then you play another round until somebody wins.

Each player has two icons next to the scoreboard that show if a round is won or lost.

Ball Control

When you volley a ball, a glowing halo the color of your player will appear around the ball. Player 1 is blue, player 2 is red. This is useful because the "owner" of a ball determines who gets totems when a brick is shattered.

Scoring
You score when:
the ball goes past your opponent (this is called a "goal," and you get 10 points)
you catch a Gobbler (exclusive to Doomsday Duel mode) released from a brick you shattered: 1 point, unless it's the same color as the last Gobbler you caught, in which case it has double the points of the last one
Winning

You win a round when:
you get 100 points before your opponent (this score limit can vary by level)
all the bricks in the level are gone and you have more points than your opponent
