ποΈ Mario Kart Tour π iPad Pro Gameplay
Mario Kart Tour is a kart racing mobile game and a spin-off game of the Mario Kart series, developed and published by Nintendo for Android and iOS devices. The game was announced in January 2018, and was released on September 25, 2019, on the App Store and Play Store.
Gameplay
The game deviates from the traditional gameplay of the Mario Kart series, in which famous characters of Nintendo's Mario universe compete with one another in competitive racing in go-karts. In traditional gameplay, players try to make their way up to first place while trying to hinder other opponent's progress towards the same goal, using various items found in item boxes at some portions of the race. However, in this game, players have to try to instead accumulate the most points to get the most number of Grand Stars. The game includes four different CCs, them being 50cc, 100cc, 150cc and 200cc, in which the first is automatically unlocked and the next two can be unlocked during gameplay, while the fourth being included with the purchase of a "Gold Pass". It also includes features from previous installments like underwater racing and hang gliding from Mario Kart 7. Mario Kart Tour includes several characters from previous games, with three new characters, them being Pauline, making her Mario Kart debut, Peachette and a musician skin for Mario. Mario Kart Tour also re-features karts from previous games. The game also introduces a new feature; Frenzy, in which if a player is using a character which can obtain three items per item box and gets three of the same item, they can use this item multiple times while invincible. The game also re-features a revised version of the unique item per character system from Double Dash!!. Characters are allocated a special item or perk which only they (and others who are allocated the same perk) can use during a race. In each track, there will be a featured character, which if the player has and selected that certain character, they would be able to obtain three items per item box and the chance of having an item Frenzy is also unlocked. The game is separated into different tours, each tour featuring different featured tracks and lasting two weeks. The first tour was the New York Tour. The game features 16 cups, with some tracks from previous cups being re-used and all races lasting two laps. The cups are also named after Mario characters instead of the usual items in the Mario franchise. One notable difference of the tracks available from the beta testing stage of the game and the actual release of the game was the absence of several tracks including DS Luigi's Mansion and SNES Rainbow Road. As of September 26, 2019, the game currently does have a multiplayer feature, but is scheduled to be available in the near future in an update. In the game, there is an in-app shop, in which players can spend the in-game currency, Rubies, to open a loot box (represented by a pipe) to stand a chance to acquire a new character, kart or glider. The game also introduces the Gold Pass, a subscription-based purchase which comes with earning greater rewards during races and unlocked 200cc. It can be bought with real-life money. Mario Kart Tour's gameplay is unique, with the game only requiring players to steer the kart, while the game helps to auto-accelerate their vehicle and perform jump tricks. In each course, a player can earn up to five Grand Stars, based on how many points they achieve. These Grand Stars are needed to unlock new cups and receive tour gifts. Points can be earned by choosing a suitable character, kart and glider, jump tricks and actions like hitting another player with an item and their own position. At the end of each cup, there is a unique type of race called a Bonus Challenge Course, in which players are presented with unique circumstances and an objective. These challenges do not follow the usual gameplay of a regular race. If the player is able to achieve the set objective, they will earn one Grand Star. If they perform better and go beyond the set objective's requirement, they may be able to earn a further two more Grand Stars. The game also introduces Challenges; players can beat these challenges to earn either Rubies or Grand Stars. They will also get a badge if they beat that certain challenge, and can use it to display it during the loading screen before races. If players get a horizontal, vertical or diagonally-across bingo, they will receive fifty to a hundred coins. If the entire board is completed, players will receive ten rubies as a reward.
Tours Mario Kart Tour introduces a new mechanic; Tours. Tours are usually named after famous cities in the world, and each tour usually lasts two weeks.
