Mark Cerny Reveals PS5 SECRETS | How The Playstation 5 Was Designed
Recently, Mark Cerny spoke with WIRED to reveal the SECRETS of the PS5. Specifically, HOW the Playstation 5 next generation console was designed. Alongside the hugely improved hardware specs on both the CPU and GPU compared to the last gen, the PS5 packs several features like the high speed SSD, ray tracing, the geometry engine and the Kraken and Temptest engines.
We examine the new info Cerny has revealed in the inner most secrets of the Playstation 5, how it was designed, and why Sony chose the TFLOPS and clock speeds they did for the GPU and CPU respectively, and what influence developers and engines such as the Unreal Engine 5 had on the design of the next gen console. Both Microsoft and Sony used Zen 2 processor and an RDNA 2 based GPU, but both the PS5 and Xbox Series X have different executations and applications of this hardware.
