Mercedes-Benz CLK LM Vs Maserati MC12 Corsa - V8 & V12 N/A Engines Sound Comparison - Goodwood FOS
153What you see is a virtual comparison between the 1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK LM and the 2014 Maserati MC12 Corsa Centenario, both filmed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS). I don't want to focus on the performance but only to show the beauty of two extraordinary cars, both derived from the respective GT1 models that raced in the late 90s and early 2000s. The Mercedes-Benz CLK LM to take part in the 24h of Le Mans was modified compared to the previous GTR. First of all the engine, M120 V12 was replaced with the M119 HL V8 naturally aspirated derived from Sauber C9/C11. The turbochargers have been removed and the engine thus created has been called GT108 B. The bodywork has also been modified to deal with the high speeds that can be reached at Le Mans without. The muzzle has been lowered, and there's a single large opening for cooling air in the front. The roof of the car has also been lowered and has a direct air intake to the engine to improve cooling. We also find several mechanical changes. Thus was born the CLK LM. The Maserati MC12 GT1 for racing, made in only 15 units, derives from the road version produced in 50 cars to have the homologation necessary to race in the GT1 championship. These vehicles became multi-victorious in the 2005 and 2006 seasons. The "Centenary" Corsa version you see is based on the FXX project and is powered by a V12 N/A engine that develops 564 kW (756 HP) at 8000 rpm, 92 kilowatts (125 HP) higher than the road variant. The weight stops at just 1,150 kg, thanks to the carbon cell. The braking system is carbon ceramic without ABS. Enjoy the video!

Quello che vedete è un confronto virtuale fra la Mercedes-Benz CLK LM del 1998 e la Maserati MC12 Corsa Centenario del 2014, entrambe filmate al Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS). Non vuole mettere in risalto le prestazioni ma solamente la bellezza di due vetture straordinarie vetture, entrambe derivate dai rispettivi modelli GT1 che hanno corso alla fine degli anni 90 e nei primi anni 2000. Automobili vittoriose, leggendarie ed indimenticabili. La Mercedes-Benz CLK LM per prendere parte alla 24h di Le Mans venne modificata rispetto alla precedente GTR innanzitutto nel motore che è passato dall'M120 V12 all'M119 HL V8 aspirato di derivazione Sauber C9/C11. I turbocompressori sono stati rimossi ed il propulsore così realizzato è stato chiamato GT108 B. Anche la carrozzeria è stata modificata per affrontare senza problemi le alte velocità raggiungibili a Le Mans. Il muso è stato abbassato e vi è un'unica grande apertura per l'aria di raffreddamento nella parte anteriore. Anche il tetto dell'auto è stato abbassato e presenta una presa d'aria diretta al motore per migliorarne il raffreddamento. Troviamo inoltre svariate modifiche meccaniche. Nasce così la CLK LM. La Maserati MC12 GT1 per le corse, realizzata in soli 15 esemplari deriva dalla versione stradale prodotta in 50 unità per avere l'omologazione necessaria per correre nel campionato GT1. Auto che divenne plurivittoriosa nelle stagioni 2005 e 2006. La versione Corsa "Centenario" che vedete è basata sul progetto FXX ed è spinta dal V12 accreditato di una potenza pari a 564 kw (756 CV) a 8000 giri/min, ben 92 kilowatt (125 CV) superiore alla variante da strada. Il peso si ferma a soli 1.150 kg grazie alla cellula in carbonio. L'impianto frenante è carbo-ceramico privo di ABS. Buon ascolto!
