Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight Boss #07 Duchess Lupiar & Royal Huntress Magnolia (No Damage)
Difficulty Played: Hard (Don't have Insane unlocked on PC)
So, this game is pretty hard when comparing it to other similar titles. It's meant to be unforgiving and force you to learn from your mistakes. You die 20+ times on a boss? Well, it's usually your fault. Learn the patterns, etc.
The only difference in difficulty is your health bar that I've noticed. And, well, more common enemy spawn locations. You do the same amount of damage across difficulties. On Easy it's massive, Normal is more standard size, on Hard, well, you see what it is. On "Insane" it's a little less, almost a sliver. It doesn't matter though, outside of Easy, bosses will kill you in 2-3 hits, except Insane, which is 1 hit kills, pretty much, even with Health Upgrades.
So, why no damage runs on bosses? If you beat a boss without taking damage, they'll drop a special item that usually can't be obtained elsewhere. Or if it can, it costs too much munny.
Something to note, is the game doesn't just register boss damage. There are items you can get later, that take health away to strengthen your attacks. Do NOT use this during the fight, as they count as taking damage and will forfeit your item. Use them before fight triggers.
Anyway, onto the boss. You face these two bosses in the Royal Pinacotheca.
So, what are their attacks?
Lupiar will dash forward and swipe at you with her hands. She flashes before this.
Lupiar will swipe upward with her hand, usually after the dash attack or if you're too close. She will flash before this.
Lupiar will slam both hands into the ground.
Lupiar will charge up briefly and slam both hands into the ground, sending out two massive energy balls in an arcing pattern
Lupiar will dodge roll forward, to close distance to you. I'm not sure if this lets her dodge your attacks, much like Kaho's dodge roll does.
In the fight with Lupiar, Magnolia will jump between the two balconies, raining down arrows of varying types onto the battle field.
Magnolia, when dropping down to fight, has a dagger, which she will stab out with.
She will teleport (usually behind Kaho) and attempt a dagger strike.
She will teleport away but not before leaving two falling energy balls in her wake.
So, the hardest part of this fight, to me, is the Lupiar phase. Why? Because I don't melee! And, Lupiar requires melee (or spells). Her armour protects her from arrow fire. They just bounce off of her with no damage done. However, once we get to Magnolia, a little easier. Anyway, to explain that high burst of damage at the start of the fight. I have Necklace of Sacrifice, which increases Kaho's attack by 100% when on low health, on top of the Tainted Missive, which when used, drains health and boosts attack by 100% so at the start of any given fight from here on out temporarily, I can have 200% attack damage for a brief time before it drops to 100%
For doing no damage, they drop the Heavy Arrows. When equipped as an accessory, changes Kaho's arrows to huge arrows, that deal a ton of damage. Our Edea's Pearl has finally been replaced, as the poison from it is no longer necessary for additive damage.
