PC RED DEAD REDEMPTION II - Online Bounty Hunting #30 - Near Max Settings Vulkan - Free Aim
Running on: i7-8700k RTX 2080 8GB
I always said that the sequal would be about the dutch's gang, now here were are Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, and boah, it really is quite somethin...
Fixed crashing on RDR2 at startup that occurred after switching to DX12 by updating windows.
Heard DX12 gives better TAA sharpening as well as performance tried it, borked my game, spent several hours attempting to fix landing on a windows update that resolved it all.
In my experience Vulkan and DX12 are very similar in performance, with others claiming DX12 has less fps drops, aiming at max settings 1080, i was able to max everything out except Global illumination & shadows at High, with the only dip happening at 50fps while facing the campfire at the main gang camp.
DX12 did help deblurify the image, using Resolution scaling 1.250 to help clarify things, at my current settings preset im blown away by the visuals, and would opt into my set up over a 4k setup with lowered settings.
With further testing i can say that DX12 is genuinely buggy and not advisable for a playthrough, as currently it does provide benefits at the cost of possible unstability depending on your set up, it does absoluely introduce bugs within shaders, like flickering tree's, hud, and ground rendering, all of which are not present while using Vulkan.
overclocking my 2080 by clock +130 Memory at +300 was able to decrease the dip to about 55/56fps, which imo at max settings and everywhere else being butter is acceptable.
Well to update my performance log, it seems Rockstar released an update that fixed a lot of the bugs that DX12 introduced, kind of making it the better option now due to the high frames, have not tested it out thoroughly, but going to do so in part 14 here.
