Sesbania or Janter (Sesbania sesban) is not only an important green manure but also a cherished forage crop preferably for goats and sheep. There are two methods of making it a profitabl crop after wheat crop. Firstly, it may be planted as green manure crop from mid of April-mid of May , rotavated as green manure crop in early June and Kisan basmati may be planted at the end of July which may be more profitable than without green manured field. The second method is to plant sesbania using 35 kg seed per acre, in three steps to market it as tender forage for animals in view of coming Eid AlAzha with different sowing dates from mid of May, end of May and early of June. It may be sold/marketed @ 8-10 thousand per Knal. Left over crop may again be rotavated as green manure crop.
