Adrian a pretty cool city, but it appears that it is being abandoned. I meet a lot of people that are from Adrian and live elsewhere, and very few people who intend to move there.

It seems like anyone who works there only works to support the city, and not in any role that brings money in to the city. This is a death knell for an isolated city, something we see often in Michigan.

Cities like Flint that were supported by single, large business opportunities have seen how losing those opportunities can ravage a local economy with no clear or convenient recourse.

Adrian is much the same. It's primary business seems to be it's education district, and as a supply sector for nearby rural communities. There are better opportunities for education at a near distance, and better supply sectors at an even lesser distance.

The mall I ride by in this video is where I did my first Trick or Treat. The Meijer here is where I got my first video games. Some of my best childhood memories are from a mexican restaurant my mom used to take me to in a stripmall that doesn't exist anymore. I remember being afraid of that carwash. I remember how great he cheese sticks from the Arby's next door tasted.

I don't know how to feel about all of this, but I do know that riding 223 to 52 through town is a scary, chaotic, and unique experience.

There's a point in this video where you can see a bank I used to use, abandoned and overgrown with vines. Right in the middle of what used to be a thriving midwestern mini-city.
