The original Resident Evil released in 1996 for the PlayStation. It was later remade for the GameCube in 2002. This playthrough is of an HD remastered version of the 2002 remake, released in 2015 for the Xbox One/PS4, and Xbox 360/PS3.
It retains most of the style and premise of the original game, while mixing things up a bit. Perhaps most importantly, it massively overhauls the graphics and voice acting of the original (which had aged poorly even by the standards of other PS1 Resident Evil games.
