"Royal treasure? Sell that bitch, who cares?!" Dragon Quest XI S part 17
In the prince's room, Faris threw himself to the floor and slams his head into the ground, pleading us to help him fight the Slayer of the sands. We told him we already had one deal with him, we asked him if he couldn't even handle this.
He told us he skipped on all of his training. Explained to us that he had asked his subordinates to fulfill his goal and meet his parents' expectations. This caused said expectations to grow beyond the realm of possibility for him to handle. Stuck in a loop of being asked to do something big, make his men do it, and then get hit by an even crazier and bigger job that he can't possibly do now.
Out of pity, we decided to help him. Once we got outside the doors and met up with him and his man, Sylvando announced he was coming with us and jumped off the top of the city wall; landing right near us in style. We kind of told him it was too dangerous for him to join, but no matter what, he insisted on joining this beast hunt. He was worried about the "Half-wit Prince"
He seemed to be capable of sword-fighting, so it was fine. In front of the cave that lead to the Slayer of the Sands' lair, we had to take a rest for the sake of Faris and his men. During the campfire, Sylvando asked us what brings us here and makes us go out of our way to fight this monster.
We tell of our mission and how King is the Hero. We are trying to stop the Dark One from messing with the world. Sylvando understood that as, there being a great villain intending on ridding this world of all its smiles. And he understood we were the heroes trying to stop him. He told us that sounded like fun. When we asked him his story, he just told us he didn't want to bore us with himself and went to sleep.
After a night's rest, we headed to where the Slayer of the Sands would be. At first, we didn't see him, making Faris prematurely announce that the beast had fled in fear. It then appeared near him from under the sands. Sylvando kind of mocked the prince by going, "He's all yours" But then he cowered in fear and ran.
Oh well. Sylvando told us it was our time to kick its ass. And so we did, we beat the Slayer of the Sands. It did have some dangerous attacks with its many bladed arms, but it was not strong enough to handle our heroes. The prince was taking credit for our victory.
Proclaiming it as his own achieving as the thing got chained up and dragged on a wheel back to the town. Before leaving, Sylvando asked him if he really should keep up this farce. But Prince Faris told him back that he had no choice but to do things this way. After he left, Erik admitted to Sylvando that he was right, nothing will change for the best if Faris stays that way. Sylvando told him not to worry, according to Sylvando, the boy is aware of this shortcoming.
