Scientists will bring back the extinct Tasmanian Tiger
The US-based biotechnology company announced that they will bring back the Tasmanian Tigers, which went extinct about a hundred years ago, by genetic engineering.
Colossal will be collaborating with researchers from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
The multimillion-dollar project will take stem cells from a species with similar DNA. These will be tried to be transformed into Tasmanian Tiger cells by gene editing technology.
Company officials think that with the return of Tasmanian tigers, the natural balances in Australia will also be restored.
Tasmanian Tigers, which have lived in Australia for millions of years, became extinct in the 1930s after overfishing.
The US-based company has previously announced that they will bring back "woolly mammoths" that went extinct thousands of years ago by genetic engineering.
