After exploring Ashina Castle, we almost reach the top but it also means we have a boss fight against one of the Ashina Elite. The thing is, the guy strikes fast and hard so the best strategy here is to deflect. Having a candy that reduces posture damage helps since he does consume more posture with every deflect. Once his deflect breaks, take him out.
And then comes the guy who kidnapped the heir, Genichiro. This guy is no laughing matter. It's also a 2-phase fight with Phase 1 has him relying on his bow and arrow and his long sword. You will need to be at your best if you want to survive and adapt. After beating him, Phase 2 begins and there's only one trick. Whenever he strikes with a lightning attack, jump and once it hits you, send it back with the R1 button. You can stun him and deal major posture damage. Once you do it twice, you can deliver the killing blow and that's it.
Once he's beaten, you unlock his battle memory so you can raise your attack power further. You meet Emma and she explains that she was also loyal to Genichiro. Eventually we find the kid and that's when we learn of our new objective: to find a way to end the cycle and sever the link of immortality. It won't be easier but it means our journey will press on.
That's going to happen in Part 10 and its' going to be intense.
