TWO Pokémon videos in one day from me, now THAT is unusual.

Pokémon Green is the fabled "unreleased in the west" Generation 1 Pokémon game. We got Red, Blue and Yellow, but Green stayed in Japan. ...Gameplay wise, though, from our point of view, this is just nearly exactly the same game as Pokémon Blue. Of course there are some differences between this and the western adaptations that were released nearly 3 whole years later. Some minor graphical changes in the overworld here and there (to say nothing of the horrible sprite art for the Pokémon that's somehow even more off-model than the versions we got), the game has even more glitches than our version somehow, some animations are an absolute eyesore as this version is a big fan of flashing lights and there are some balancing readjustments here and there, most infamously Blizzard has a 30% chance of freezing.

All of this is INCREDIBLY minor, though, honestly. I'd say it's really not worth playing the game over if you've already played through Blue. The novelty of it being "unreleased in the west" wears out extremely quickly, especially if you can't read Japanese.

...Not that this needs to be said in 2021, but in case there are any time-travelers from the late 90s or the 2000s watching this video, nope! I'm sorry, but the differences between Green and any old western version of a Generation 1 game you've probably played through a trillion times truly end there! This game doesn't magically have a Mew under the truck or a version of the Lavender Town theme that causes your head to explode or anything. Take your playground rumours elsewhere!
