Space Shuttle Columbia - STS-78 Launch (Alternate Launch Sequence Camera Edit)
On this date in 1996, Space Shuttle Columbia launched on STS-78. The crew of 7 flew a life sciences mission, featuring over 40 experiments in the fields of biology, anatomy and physiology, fluid mechanics, semiconductors, and metallurgy.
This video is taken from NASA's official broadcast coverage of STS-78's launch, as well as some of the public affairs broadcast of select launch replays, shown after launch coverage concluded. The sequence seen here was compiled by me, and was not broadcast at launch time. All video has been heavily upscaled via AI protocol and has been mated to a custom composite audio track, comprised of recordings of the launches of STS-116, STS-117, STS-133, and STS-134, in addition to audio from a test of a ROFI ignitor.
