Spider-Man Miles Morales is probably the best example in recent Superhero media of the concept of the “Hero’s Journey”, which is essentially the struggle that a character goes through that shapes their heroism and their outlook on the world going forward. This game highlights Miles’ first steps into becoming the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man; and even though he shares his title with Peter, their journeys into the role couldn’t be more different. Spider-Man Miles Morales is chock full of beautiful character moments, tragedies, action set-pieces, parallel storytelling; but most importantly in my opinion; Miles Morales is a game full of inspiring bravery.
This is a character that as a kid taught me a lot of things about doing the right thing and always standing for what is right, no matter the consequences; so, it’s beautiful that Miles Morales can now teach this lesson to children of new generations, of all colours and creeds. Hell, you don’t even have to be a child to learn something from Spider-Man, we could all take after that selfless nature; helping others and making it our duty as people to be kind.
In this video, I’m going to do my best to highlight the journey that Miles goes on as a character and exactly why Spider-Man is the best example of a Superhero that there ever was and ever will be. Today, join me as we take a dive into what I think is the best Spider-Man game ever made; a game made with a love and passion that is rare to see in the industry these days and a game that reminded me why Spider-Man is such an inspiring character in the first place.
