Starcrash (1978) Shows Future Star Trek VI (1991) Plot - David Hasselhoff, Elvis & David Bowie
1978 sci-fi film Starcrash may show a glimpse of the future plot of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991). Actor Christopher Plummer plays The Emperor in this and was also Chang in Star Trek 6. Starcrash heroes Stella Star and Akton are captured in the film's opening and sentenced to labor on an alien planet. The same scenario would play out in Star Trek 6 12 years later, Captain Kirk and Dr. McCoy are captured by Klingons and sentenced to work in mines on the ice planet Rura Penthe.
Caroline Munro's voice in Starcrash was redubbed by actress Candy Clark who appeared with rock musician David Bowie in 1976's The Man Who Fell To Earth. Model and actress Iman who was married to Bowie played an alien shapeshifter in Star Trek 6, transforming into a clone of the starship captain.
1969 Trek TV episode Whom Gods Destroy also featured a climax where captain Garth of Izar becomes a mirror image of Kirk, leading to a struggle, standoff, and impossible decision by Kirk's shipmate.
Garth was played by Steve Ihnat who may resemble musician Bill Haley, known for his band's song, Rock Around The Clock (used for the opening of Happy Days and American Graffiti (1973), for which Candy Clark received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress).
Knight Rider's David Hasselhoff appears as Prince Simon in Star Crash and also played a clone villain of himself, named Garthe in the 1980's NBC action series.
Caroline Munro was in The Abominable Dr. Phibes in 1971 with Vincent Price. Her character is shown in a semi-transparent casket briefly. When it passes through a wall, an illustration can be seen that may resemble musician Elvis Presley. Price was in The Trouble With Girls in 1969. Kissin' Cousins (1964) included Elvis and Batman TV series / Whom Gods Destroy actress Yvonne Craig. Elvis also played a near identical clone of himself in this film.
