Subverting Expectations - How It Can Actually Be Accomplished Well
The idea of subverting expectations has gotten a bad rap recently because it has been done so poorly in some current TV shows and movies. It has also been used as a bandage to cover over bad writing. But, actually, the subversion of expectations can still be an important component to storytelling, if it's done correctly. Here's my thoughts.
