2020 is Super Mario's 35th Anniversary! That's right, 35 years ago we got the original installment in this world-renowned gaming classic of a franchise. Since the original Super Mario Bros., we have received many new titles that we wish to see ported onto the Nintendo Switch. Is that possible? Yes. Will Nintendo do it? Well actually...there have been some rumors as to a possible celebration of the series' 35th anniversary in the form of a collector's edition of ports for the Nintendo Switch. It's hard to believe that if something like this is in the works it hasn't been leaked yet, but we can still hold out hope. Watch this video to see what our dream Collector's Edition of Super Mario titles would look like in honor of the anniversary! Here is a sneak peak at the script:
Hello and welcome back to Game Domain! 2020, which has been a pretty rough year so far, is the 35th anniversary of the world-renowned Super Mario franchise. Anniversaries of video game franchises generally don’t garner too much attention from the actual companies themselves, as they usually have just a special or an instagram post commemorating the occasion. But this year, Nintendo’s flagship franchise needs much more than just an Instagram Post or a special event in Mario Maker 2. Nintendo has largely shied away from big game releases in the years of anniversaries of their franchises, and we wish that they would do some more collector’s edition compilations of some of their best titles. Like why not include a port of Melee as a pre-order bonus with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate back in 2018? Or what would the harm be in porting Super Mario 64 to the Switch alongside the release of Odyssey back in 2017? Now, don’t get us wrong, we are completely aware of how difficult it is to port titles to new consoles, but we really aren’t going to be asking for much in this video.
