Textbook game design and an example of how to construct and style a game that holds up over time. After reviewing Anachronox, this is very much a case of opposing strengths and weaknesses, given Anachronox relied on story and in-depth world to carry it in spite of aging graphics and clunky gameplay, while this offers excellent gameplay and simple graphics that still have a lot of charm yet the story is lacking depth.
ADDENDUM:
After posting the review, I thought about whether or not this game met the criteria for being a masterpiece and after some thoughtful consideration, I decided to adjust the game review to a "5". This game has a variety of maps, excellent level design, a variety of upgrades, and if nothing else -- is an excellent game for speedrunning. It would be very difficult for me to justify a game like "Sonic 2", "Super Mario World", and other games receiving 5s yet leaving this one in the "4" category. It was a close call but I decided to elevate it's score.

A definite classic that all should play. It's near perfect yet a bit oversimplistic for the most hardcore gamers. It is a game that anyone who enjoys gaming will likely find at least some enjoyment in.
