It is a big desert map with bad guys in it. I say bad guys because the game gives no indication as to who anyone is or why you are there. There is no story to speak of, just some nebulous destruction goals. Firing in the third person makes sense in a game with some latitude about taking damage. In a game with this level of dedication to realism, using the third person view is actually a huge detractor. Aiming feels terrible and you die very quickly to gunfire.
