Tales of Phantasia (GBA) Playthrough Part 26 VS Efreet NO DAMAGE
Now we face Efreet.
He's fast and hits hard. But since he comes alone he won't stand a chance if you blitzkrieg him.
And would you look at that! No damage! Let's see if I can do that for future bosses alright?
Once we are done we form the pact and also get the spellbook he was guarding. Eruption is a decent AOE fire spell for Arche and seems to be equally good if not better than the SNES version. So we got a good fire elemental spell for now...
After finishing our business in Freyland, it's time to form pact with Gnome the last spirit for Claus. Gnome is in cavern of spirits, east of Belladem village, and the fastest way is to take the one way ferry from Alvanista to Belladem.
Cavern of Spirits has laughably easy enemy in this version (I recall PS version the enemies are much tougher). But the gimmick is no less annoying. First, as seen on 4:07 you need a password. For GBA version is Ki Ku Ri N. Secondly, beware of an enemy called Clay Idol. They are impervious to all forms of attack except for the Tractor Beam spell. Therefore should you run into one and do not have the spell, run from the battle.
Now to proceed further, examine the lost kid (shown at 4:51) and offer to guide him back to his friends. He walks slow so make sure he follows close by. He needs to be by your side at the edge of screen in order for him to move on. Oh and beware of the other similar looking kid nearby! Those are the Clay Idols I've mentioned. If you want you can fight one for fun, but otherwise, save your HP and TP and don't get close to them.
Once you guided him back to his friends, you can proceed deeper.
Now, near the end you'll see the Clay Idols guarding several caverns, and even if you defeat them they'll somehow respawn. Hmmm... Guess we need to think of something...
