I'm pretty sure she's a figurative duck, not a literal one. She could be part duck though, I didn't know she had been a frog, and I know one of her friends is sometimes part dog.
I turned off the background music and listened, and sure enough the sound did register, though much quieter than I heard it at the time. You probably can't hear it in the finished video.
Homestuck is a long, crude, and confusing story. For a short introduction into what to expect from Homestuck, I suggest either Jailbreak as a super short crazy nonsense train:
