The Original Mass Effect's Ending Is MASTERFUL!
75We always talk about Mass Effect 2, and how the ending represents a culmination of all of the games choices to lead up to a heart pounding finale. But we often forget the game that spawned it, the original Mass Effect, in that discussion. The ending is great, and represents a cleaning of the slate for what is to come in the future and setting up the next story to be told in the universe. It doesn't have the complexity of Mass Effect 2s ending, but it features a perfect climax and resolution to a story building the entire game.
From Saren and the Geth terrorizing planets and people, of which you save a decent amount, to the death of a squad member, the stakes are high leading up to the finale. Convincing Saren to step aside, and deciding the fate of the council is the perfect way of finishing this sci-fi tale. Such that you could stop here, and never play another Mass Effect game, and feel satisfied with how the game ends. This is BioWare at the best.
