Of course, Headlines & Hot Takes is the main event this week, as we chat about a few of the things that we liked at E3 2021. Firstly, the Elden Ring gameplay trailer has made a believer out of Matthew, which is something no one was expecting. Even if it went on a little long, Colm was taken by the Guardians of the Galaxy gameplay. We also chat about the notable games that were at Xbox E3 2021, like Psychonauts 2, STALKER 2, the Forza Horizon 5 gameplay, and the new game from Arkane Austin, Redfall. We give Ubisoft E3 2021 a mention by talking about Riders Republic and the rise of virtual extreme sports, we have a little chat about some of the smaller games at the show, and we discuss the point of some presentations, like Randy Pitchford bothering celebrities on a movie set.
We have actually played some games, too. Matthew’s brought Overboard to this week’s Show and Tell, and after hearing his Overboard review and watching his Overboard gameplay we think you’ll want to give it a look yourself. Meanwhile, Colm’s played through Backbone. Not exactly a recommendation in his Backbone review, but you can have a look at his Backbone gameplay and judge for yourself.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that were announced at past E3 press conferences. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on podcast games and hugging developers.
