Headlines & Hot Takes revolves around one topic: Epic Games vs Apple. The amount of information coming out of that courtroom is wild. Epic have paid out $1 billion on exclusives for the Epic Store, with a large portion of that figure going on Borderlands 3. They’ve also shelled out close to $12 million on those free games you can download on the Epic Games Store, but the ROI hasn’t been great. In fact, the Epic Game Store isn’t making them a profit. Fortnite, however, has made them lots and lots of money. Also, we stop by Tech Corner to have a look at Super Mario 64 with ray tracing.
Like the news, Show and Tell also centres on one thing. A big thing. A scary thing. Well, scary in parts. Resident Evil Village is finally out, and both Colm and Matthew have finished it. So, on top of a dual Resident Evil Village review full of wonderful and different opinions, you’ll get to see the game in action in our Resident Evil Village gameplay. We chat about the Metroidvania-ness of the village (and the castle of Lady Dimitrescu to a lesser extent), the most frightening and terrific section of Resident Evil 8 that features a puppet named Angie and her puppeteer Donna Beneviento, and we discuss how there’s quite a shift from scares to shooting about half way through. It’s also one of the funniest games Colm’s played in a while. So, in short, loads on Resident Evil Village!
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about games that have multiple endings. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on seminal games we haven’t played, good date night games, and wild publicity stunts.
