Miseki's theme. ...A youkai woman with a beautiful body, but a hideous face. In order to make herself more perfectly beautiful, she plans to gather the beauty of everyone's danmaku and take it for herself.

Obviously, Miseki is NOT a real Touhou character. She is my original creation, the final boss of a theoretical fangame called "Resplendent Patchwork." You can read more about the story/concept here! https://lyricalive.tumblr.com/tagged/resplendent%20patchwork/chrono Click click click!

I wrote her lyrics, but I did not compose her theme song myself.
This piece was woven from an incredible patchwork of talents!
Wanderingaviator, composer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzAKUPyBQyg
Frogmask, arranger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fPk5TheXio
AMAZING musicians!!! PLEASE do yourself a favor and check out their other beautiful work!

In addition to addressing the nature of Gensokyo and the meaning of spell cards, this OC was designed around several themes that are important to me: self-love, self-hate, and self-styled identity. Miseki wants more than the story that was written for her, and she uses the influence of others to shape herself. Her over-the-top personality made her fun to voice, going a little crazy with desperation in the second half. I hope you find her interesting and memorable, because then her legend truly feels real! When it comes to youkai, it's your belief that makes her exist. Thanks for listening!

---

Here today, already long regretting yesterday...
(It's out with the first draft, throw it all away...)
Because the face that was painted in the past was truly never mine...
(A new stroke will correct that ancient scribble with a perfect line...)

I see this world, and love what I see.
I turn the mirror on myself, and how I hate that it's me.
The whispers reach me from behind, “what lovely maiden is she?”
But I scream only “liar, liar, liar”-- I must be such a liar.

Not a diamond, ever too rough.
To see it from a single angle would be never enough.
Is it so wrong to want it all? I'm at the peak of my love,
And I need to go higher, higher, higher-- there must be something higher.

My reflection is just a burden on me.
But instead, if I were the reflection, maybe then I'd be free!
So what I need is a way... to let the world see, see the world that I see...

Take from here, and take from there! ("At this breaking hour...")
A war of love, and all is fair! ("Blossom"...)
Now with this magic ink, I will rewrite my fairy tale. ("Bloom as black as ink"!)
Make another mystery; leave all the rest to history. ("Folded neatly till bloomed completely"...)
Why, what's a fantasyland if I can't live my fantasy? ("in my pure land of fantasy"...)

What's mine is mine, what's yours is ours: ("Gather them, shining gems,")
A patchwork of the scattered stars! ("souvenirs of light"...)
Make vapor of the paper trail-- no, no, no-- ("in her artful escape"...)
This it art: take every part, and trace it to another start! ("With a grasp of the elements,")
Turn old to young, and put the beauty back here into my heart. ("I can construct a whole"...)

Once branded with my precious stain, a stain will claim it in my name:
I'll turn these miserable feelings into a splendid game.

Pick from here, and pick from there! ("Each piece of a whole")
A store of beauty-- won't you share? ("resides in perfect harmony"...)
The bit I plead, it isn't greed, for “everything” is all I need. ("Nothing less than everything will do!")
For she whose chance was sorely small to be the fairest of them all: ("Fairest in the land...”)
To let her bloom or let her fall-- now then, which is fair indeed?

The story that once was written is a story that I didn't write...
I won't stop... till I take it to the perfect height!
And the sin whose mark I bear, a sin that I did not commit...
My truth lies... in the distance, I can reach it!

Bury the past in the new-fallen snow,
And yet it's clear here, there's a plenty farther way to go.
Paint with your true colors; show me
What I could be. Soon enough I will be...
