I love Deltarune, and Undertale too for that matter, they are very well designed, well thought out games that have changed my life. I'm not going to dunk on the games. I'm gonna dunk on the fandom, and I'm not saying this as an outsider looking in, I was once incredibly deep into the AU rabbit hole. If you asked me in 2017 or 2018 what fell swap under ink megalovania sans was, I could've told you his story and how he related to the other sans’.
I'm not proud of that part of my life, but it most likely shaped my life in some way so I'm not gonna hide it from either myself or others. Yeah I was a cringe fail child, I still am at heart, but I know it this time around and am more careful about what I get into.
I'm getting off track. The deltarune fandom for the most part is really fun to hang around, and is definitely better than many other online communities. but they don't seem to know what being patient means. They look at every little detail on the store page for a HINT for when chapter 3, 4 or 5 will come out. The stand out example being when they noticed that the store page changed to say COMING SOON instead of nothing being there. (_really?_)
(_also when the credits said mike stimpson or whatever mike's last name in the credits of the sweepstakes was. That's a real person, not the funny tv man._)
I think the root of the problem is ironically passion, they love the game and they want more, and I do too. But they don't realize that games take a lot of effort and time to make, and Toby is working with a small team to make the game.
It's good to be passionate about what you love. I'm not trying to stifle passion, I want to encourage it. But people need to remember that things like making games or videos takes a lot of time, and patience from an audience can make that process much more enjoyable for the creator of that content.
So if by some miracle Toby sees this, take your time. I'll be there to play the game when it's done, and no earlier. You've changed my life, and I want to repay you for that by being patient with new games.
