No commentary playthrough of the PC FPS Unreal II: The Awakening. Normal difficulty, presented in 4K.

Unreal II: The Awakening is the universally disliked sequel to the original Unreal, this time developed by Legend Entertainment (Return to Na Pali) and not Epic Megagames themselves.. Playing as a space marine in a crew of rejects patrolling the borders of the galaxy, you come across and get involved in the dramas resulting of the finding of powerful alien artifacts.

This is a tough one to write a mini review. I can see why it got all the flames, in many ways it departs from what made the original Unreal stand out. It's a story driven FPS with lots of dialogue and cutscenes, whereas in the original it was all about environmental storytelling (and lots of text logs)... It's a much slower game... No castles or ruins... And everything on it is super generic when comparing with other shooters from the era. However, this game looked completely sick, the art was good, and the music is still good (not Unreal 1 good, but good). So, I think it's not about the game being "bad", as it's mostly average all across the board. It's all about what it was *"not"*, because it surely wasn't the game we were expecting.

Unreal II. The Awakening es la universalmente denostada secuela de Unreal, esta vez desarrollado por Legend Entertainment (Return to Na Pali) y no por Epic Megagames... Juegas como un marine espacial de una tripulación de despojos patrullando los bordes de la galaxia, que se tropiezan con los dramas resultantes del hallazgo de unos poderosos artefactos alienígenas.

Es es un juego complicado como para escribir una mini review. Entiendo porqué llevo toda la caña que llevó, ya que en muchos aspectos se desmarca de lo que hizo al Unreal original destacar. Es un FPS centrado en la historia con mucho diálogo y escenas, donde el original contaba la historia con el entorno (y muchos logs de texto)... Es un juego mucho más lento... No hay castillos ni ruinas... Y todo es super genérico cuando lo comparamos con otros shooters de la época. Por otro lado, el juego lucía increíble en su momento, artísticamente era bueno, y la música también estaba bien (no tanto como la del original, pero bien). Así que, creo que esto no se trata de que el juego sea "malo", porque es normalillo en la mayoría de los aspectos... sino todo lo que *"no"* era, porque si algo está claro es que NO era el juego que esperábamos.
