I noticed that a lot of people in leviathan''s comments wanted to know how this is done, and I figured out how to do it today, so I decided to make this and spread the knowledge.

edit: this guide was made in 1.3, but should still be applicable to any 1.4 modded worlds. always make sure that you back up your worlds before doing anything with t-edit.

Note: t-edit 3.10 is no longer the version you need to use. you need to make sure you're using the correct version for the current tmodloader release. you can see which one you need to use on the t-edit GitHub page, by looking for the version of t-edit that corresponds to the version of terraria that tmodloader is running.
