102Step 1 The Sketch: keep the sketch simple by
identifying the main shapes of the eye. In the
beginning you want to stick to straight lines so
that you have structure to work off of
Step 2 BIocking in Shadow: Lightly block in
shadow/ shade. Blend shaded areas with a
soft paint brush. Repeat process a few more
times getting darker in respected areas.
Blending in between each step keeps the
drawing smooth.
Tip: use a small eraser to block out sighted
parts. This helps build structure earlier on
Step 3 Dark lines: to maintain the structure and
shape of the eye. Make everything darker. This
is when I start using darker pencils such as 8B
Step 4 Pupil: start to fill in the pupil avoiding
the highlighted area. Generally the pupil is
darker near the top of the eye and lighter
around the bottom surrounded by a darker line
Part 5 Eyebrows: I will cover this in more detail
I'm a later video, but, stick to the shade/ blend
technique slowly adding more details
Part 6 Details & Highlights: Add dark details
and be generous with the amount of highlights
