By all rights, Cuphead should never have come to the Nintendo Switch. When the Moldenhauer family, also known as Studio MDHR, signed an exclusivity contract with Microsoft, it was clear that Cuphead would remain an Xbox and PC exclusive title for all time.

But, as MDHR worked on Cuphead’s DLC, The Delicious Last Course, they were contacted by Microsoft with an intriguing proposition. What if Microsoft published Cuphead on Switch? Would the Moldenhauers be happy to make a port of their game for the Nintendo platform?

It’s enough of a miracle that the boundaries between console exclusives crumbled enough to make this partnership between Microsoft and Nintendo work at all. But the fact that Cuphead is being celebrated as a flawless port to the Switch – a game that, if anything, works a bit better on the Nintendo device? That’s absolutely amazing.

So this is the story of how an unlikely partnership brought Cuphead to the Nintendo Switch, and how Studio MDHR managed to not only make an excellent port, but bring dozens of new improvements to the classic game as well.

We’ve been burning the candle at both ends getting videos out to you guys lately. Things have been busy, but we’ve been seeing a lot of new growth, which is nice, as we’re normally very slow to gain new subscribers.

We might slow down our production a bit over the next few weeks, just to give us some semblance of a break. We’ll see – it all depends on what gaming news occurs over the next few weeks, and what new ideas we can come up with.

In the meantime, please do us a favour and share this (and other) videos with anyone you think would enjoy them. Because YouTube’s algorithm typically doesn’t like us, word-of-mouth is our best opportunity to get bigger, and we’re really grateful for all the support and help you wonderful people have provided us with already.

Also, Patreon: we have one! http://patreon.com/videogamestorytime (just throwing that out there!)

Anyway, we hope you’re doing well.
