This is my blind run through the Enhanced Edition of Baldur’s Gate. This will be the first part of a series where I play through all the Baldur’s Gate games and expansions. I plan on keeping the same character in each game whenever possible.

This will be the first game of the famous and critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate series that I will be playing. We will make our way through each of the games in turn, including the expansion pack Siege of Dragonspear. We will then eventually make our way into Baldur’s Gate III upon its release hopefully later this year. I have never played the Baldur’s Gate series and this will be a completely blind let’s play. The Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rules are new to me, however I do have experience with other tabletop RPGs including Pathfinder. We will be playing Baldur’s Gate on Insanity difficulty with extra damage disabled. I am excited to get into this series as it’s one I’ve been meaning to play for years (well before I even started this channel). With the upcoming release of Baldur’s Gate III this seemed like the perfect excuse and opportunity to jump into this series. I do hope you all enjoy.

Baldur’s Gate is an isometric fantasy RPG developed by BioWare and published by Black Isle Studios of Interplay Entertainment in 1998. It was based on the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition rules and takes place in the Forgotten Realms setting. The original Baldur’s Gate used the Infinity Engine. Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, which we will be playing, is a remake of the original Baldur’s Gate developed by Overhaul Games of Beamdog and published by Atari and was released in 2012. Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition combines the story of the original Baldur’s Gate along with its expansion Tales of the Sword Coast. It also includes Siege of Dragonspear which acts as a transitionary game between Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II. The gameplay of the Enhanced Edition is much the same as the original Baldur’s Gate, with some elements added and some imported from the sequel. Both follow the ruleset of 2nd Edition AD&D which is licensed by Wizards of the Coast.

Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition was released for Windows in 2012 and his since been ported to every major system including the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One as of 2019. The original game was only available on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS.
