EDIT: This run was initially timed via SDA's standards, but later re-timed to traditional RTA standards (starting from "New Game", ending at the final boss hit). The SDA time (first movement input to final boss hit) would come out to 1:08:21.

This is a speedrun of Ys II Chronicles+ (Steam version). This run was done on "new game +" settings, mostly because I don't know how to get "first playthrough" settings again on this version; the extra cutscenes amount to 1:40 or so.

EDIT 2: "First playthrough" settings can be re-enabled on Steam by deleting the game's "autosave.sav" file. In addition to the game clear flag, I believe this file also contains mascot data and enemy data, as well as Time Attack scores (for both games, if I'm not mistaken), so you might want to make a backup before deleting it.

Overall, a pretty good run, but a lot of minor movement errors and such. Also feel that some bosses should've been done a little faster (Gelaldy, maybe Velagunder; Dalles almost has to be played this safe with this equipment setup).

I don't intend to continue to do SS runs of this version, but if I do continue SS runs, it will instead be "first playthrough" runs of Complete (via un-installing/re-installing; doesn't seem to work for this version). But, this currently does beat my Complete run of this game using "first playthrough" settings, but that run wasn't very polished to begin with (though neither was this one), but this run was done more as a comparison to Complete. Still pretty certain that Complete is the faster version, if I were ever to run the "new game +" category for Complete similar to this (and I won't, probably).

Not sure, but I'm pretty sure Japanese text displays just a tad faster, despite being able to hold cancel to speed it up in this version (English text tends to display more characters than Japanese). What really hurts the Chronicles+ version is that it can't make use of any of the warp tricks, notably the one to skip the final screen before Darm (which would also skip the "new game +" cutscene, saving a minute if running the game like that). Not much else, but Complete also has the edge in being able to cycle to different inventory items without needing to pull up the subscreen, so that'd save some small time as well.
