Freedom Fighters Walkthrough Part 1: Manhattan Invasion (INTRO & FIRST MISSION)
2Welcome back to the channel, dear gamers. As promised, today we'll kickstart a new walkthrough, this time of a cult classic Third-Person Shooter Freedom Fighters. Without further ado, sit back and enjoy the gameplay.
About Game: Freedom Fighters is 2003 Third-Person Shooter developed by IO Interactive and published by Electronic Arts for PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox and Windows-based PCs. Upon release, Freedom Fighters was met with generally positive critical reception on account of strong squad-based and tactical elements present in its gameplay which were enhanced by well-made allied AI, atmospheric soundtrack and highly detailed and realistic depiction of New York City. However, criticism was also aimed at the game's story, which was seen as fairly predictable, poor enemy AI and game's overall short length and lack of replay value. Despite this and plans for the sequel in 2005 which were ultimately aborted in favor of another Third-Person Shooter, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Freedom Fighters has carved out its place in gaming history and maintains an cult following even as of 2024.
Story of the game is set in an alternate history where Soviet Union managed to develop the atomic bomb before the Americans and used it to end the World War 2 by dropping it on Berlin. Due to this, Soviets were able to quickly spread the communist influence throughout the world and become the world-spanning empire directly encroaching onto United States of America by the turn of the 21st century. Story of the game primarily follows Chris Stone, a plumber from New York City who will find himself at the forefront of the civillian resistance movement after Soviet Union launches an sudden invasion of United States and takes control of New York, leading him into a brutal fight for liberation of his hometown during which he will rise from an anonymous civillian to the living symbol of American resistance against the Soviet invaders known simply as "Freedom Phantom".
One day, plumbers and brothers Chris and Troy Stone were dispatched to an apartment of Isabella Angelina, a famous anti-communist spokeswoman and activist. However, upon arriving to the apartment, they find it abandoned moments before it is breached by a group of Soviet soldiers led by General Vasilij Tatarin. While Chris is able to avoid capture by hiding in the apartment's bedroom, Troy is interrogated for Isabella's location by Tatarin before being taken away with Chris proceeding to chase after them and encountering a man named Jones. With Troy officially in Soviet custody, Chris and Jones leave the building and discover that Soviets have launched a full-fledged attack on New York City, forcing them to arm themselves and fight their way to the sewers below Manhattan where Chris discovers that Jones is the member of an fledging resistance movement which formed around Isabella Angelina, expecting Soviet attack on the United States and ends up falling in with them as New York City quickly falls under Soviet control...
