Deep Core (Amiga)Playthrough/Aliens will surely be frightened by those big biceps bigger than thighs
Deep Core (1993) by Dynafield Systems is a highly underrated platformer that takes place in an unusual location, which is an aquatic base attacked by aliens. A certain game from Sega Saturn called "Deep Fear" immediately comes to mind , which has a very similar plot background. Back to the topic. The game is a typical platformer only that with maze elements . It's not hard to get lost here when playing for the first time, because we have no access to a map and the whole environment looks very similar . But this is by no means a disadvantage because it builds in a sense the claustrophobic feeling that should accompany such a place. I just love it. It's really fun to play , and in general I have nothing to complain about the controls . Even fits here a motif taken from Shmup's , namely the reduction of our firepower capabilities every time we die. It just gives the game atmosphere and makes us rather careful about every next step . The only two things I regret are the lack of music during gameplay and poor enemy design. Well, when it comes to the design of enemies the creators definitely could have been more creative , after all, it's aliens . It's also a pity that there is no sign of fighting from the previous inhabitants of the base. This could have been cleverly presented in the backgrounds on which we move while passing the game . But overall the game is very cool, and for me it is somewhat of a hidden gem in the vast library of games that the Amiga offers. I recommend it highly.
