Plok! (SNES) Playthrough / A game mainly remembered for its timeless soundtrack !! Which is badass!
Plok! (1993) by Software Creations is a platformer , which would have been forgotten by the world if it were not for the professional work done here by the Follin brothers. I discovered this game myself thanks to the recent references on YT to this soundtrack. And I was very curious what kind of game it could be. After all, the soundtrack contains very energetic and aggressive songs at the same time, so it must be an action game for mature audiences. Right ? I was so wrong . It turned out to be an ordinary platformer with a bland hero in an infantile world. Well from my expectations came out a grotesque situation to say the least . But the game is not bad. It is quite a challenge and not one person during its passage will turn red with anger at the image of Plok trying to passing it XD I know something about it personally . Graphically it is ok but compared to the competition the game is far behind . Gameplay-wise Plok has an interesting trick , thanks to which he can use all his four levitating limbs to attack , after which they come back to us . The more limbs we shoot in a row, the character will behave differently, for example: without legs you can only jump. Yes, I know it sounds strange, jumping without legs, but believe me, in gameplay it works and gives the game depth. For example, let's assume that we shoot all four limbs at the enemy .... then we have a better chance to hit him and inflict more damage at the same time, but then we lose a lot of mobility, which can contribute to our quick demise. The so-called two-edged sword , will help but can also hurt. We also have at our disposal various means of transportation such as a motorcycle, car, tank, etc., but the mechanics have not been implemented very well and controlling them is mostly clumsy and unpleasant. Some levels are pure torture. And you need to learn them in depth to complete them without any problems , and even then it can be difficult because there is not much room for mistakes. Bosses, on the other hand, are very well balanced and once you get to know their pattern, they shouldn't pose much of a problem. Oooooo I would forget there is no game state saving mechanic. Yes no passwords of anything. You have one approach, so if you don't beat the game then fuck off and start over. The game is really OK but can get under your skin really fast.
