The rear gets new taillights as well. Overall, the exterior remains a sleek and stylish take on the compact crossover formula that helps the GLA stand out.\n\nInside, the changes are more modest but still meaningful. The dual 10.3-inch displays (one for the instrument cluster, one for infotainment) are now standard and run Mercedes' latest MBUX software. Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration is also included across the range. Beyond that, it's the same well-appointed cabin that helps justify the GLA's premium pricing.\n\nThe mechanical updates are modest. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder carries over, producing 221 horsepower, but it's now augmented by a 48-volt hybrid system. Acceleration is likely similar to before at a decent but hardly thrilling 6.3 seconds to 60 mph with all-wheel drive.\n\nOn the road, the GLA continues to strike a reasonable balance between ride comfort and handling prowess. The suspension keeps body motions nicely controlled without being overly firm. However, those looking for an engaging driving experience will want to look elsewhere – such as the bonkers AMG GLA45.\n\nAs a luxury vehicle, the GLA meets expectations in terms of refinement, tech, and upscale appointments. But it still lacks the spaciousness and versatility of more practical options like the Mercedes GLB. For urban-dwelling buyers who prioritize style and want an elevated cabin experience, the compact GLA could make sense. Just don't expect it to be particularly fun to drive or accommodating for larger families.\n\nOverall, the updates for 2024 are positive but fail to address the GLA's core weaknesses.
