As far as I'm concerned, trying to get something to work by figuring out how other people might have done it is a perfectly valid learning exercise. With that in mind, I play through THE MUMMY DEMASTERED again with an eye to figuring out how I might implement some of its Metroidvania ideas into my own Game Maker Studio 2 Metroidvania project.

Keep in mind, I'm an utter novice at GMS2 and GML, so I'm probably wrong on most things I speculate on. Let me know in the comments.
