20 Hidden Marvel References In Shang-Chi Revealed
1,173Shang Chi has entered kicking and...well, not really screaming, just a lot more kicking and punching and having a cool best friend. He’s the first new character to headline their own movie since Captain Mar-vel, and while Shang Chi eventually found himself as a member of the Avengers, most of his story has happened outside of the mainstream. But this movie has been built around its interconnectivity. Additionally, the movies have made a practice of making nods and references to the comics for fans to find, like seeing the Grim Reaper’s helmet in the floorboards of Wanda and Vision’s house. We dig as deep as we can to find the deep cuts and how they might relate to other heroes that populate this awesome universe. There are nods to Shang Chi’s comic book sisters in his movie sister including the Golden Dagger fight club or even how his father has gone by many names, something that is true for comic book Shang Chi as well. How does the Dweller in Darkness relate to the multiverse and what does it say about the future of characters like Doctor Strange. How does a Kung Fu master hiding out in San Francisco connect to Thor and maybe even to events in Thor Love and Thunder?
