DAY-EE-TONE-AAAAAA~! (AAaaaah!)

Ok, we're using all arcade settings again, but on the ADVANCED course. I basically stuck to the Beginner course in the arcades 'cause the turns in the other two courses are super unforgiving, and let's be honest, you did too! Though, after a bit of practice here, I'm able to competently make my way around these turns! Drifting is only necessary past the bridge, the first big turn just needs a tap on the brakes to drift through, the second needs a HARD brake drift, and that crazy deep grassy turn? It's weird... I wouldn't really call it a drift insomuch as a big CUT in speed. Though, you kinda pull it off as a regular hard drift? It's hard to explain, but your racing line plays a large impact.

Now the LAST turn! Geeze, that one gave me lots and lots of trouble! I generally do drifts by continuing to hold on the accelerator and using the brakes to compensate for speed, but that just causes me to shoot out onto the grass here! Or take the turn at a ridiculously low speed. Turns out, though, that if you release the accelerator while in a drift your car maintains the drift and much of the same speed! It also allows you to tighten your turn better. It's weird. But that's how you take that last turn. Release the accelerator after starting the drift!

As for the race itself? I thought I did pretty good here! Securing the pole position early on gives a greater chance of winning! However... you can see that "TUNE INSURANCE" won't put up with anything but 1st! Geeze, man! This was my best run of the night. Most of the time your rival vehicle stays tantalizingly out of reach, so this run was a godsend. Oh well! Maybe next time!

This game! If you've ever been to an arcade back when arcades were a thing, it's pretty danged likely you've seen this one! If you went to a big location there'd be a chance you'd see a bunch hooked up together that could have simultaneous multiplayer and you'd CONSTANTLY hear the magnificent "DAYEE-TOOONAAAA~!" being belted out!

Basically, this game was a big deal. I'm pretty sure it was the flagship title for Sega's new Arcade Motherboard/Chip/dealie back in the day and it became an instant hit!

This is being played on the PS3, but it's essentially a faithful rendering of the Arcade classic! It's also in 60 FPS! The original was too! The widescreen is an upgrade, though. And probably a higher resolution? But the blocky cars and fuzzy textures are still intact!
