Speaking of misunderstood tyrants, we spent years hating those dreadful Templars, and then Haytham Kenway in Assassin’s Creed 3 was the first to make us think, hey maybe those jerks aren't total jerks.

That’s partly because we spent the first 10 hours of the game playing as Haytham and not his Assassin son, seeing things from Haytham's perspective and furthering his cause before we found out we were doing odd jobs for the people who were, up until now, the baddies of the series.

It just goes to show you: something about not judging a man until you've stealth-murdered a bunch of people in his shoes, I imagine.
