Adapted from the popular radio series of the same name and produced in glorious Technicolor by producer Joe Pasternak, this true "high school musical" also served as MGM's coming out party for the lovely Elizabeth Taylor. Playing Judy Foster's (Jane Powell) best friend Carol, Taylor got the full MGM glitz and glamour treatment, from special lighting and focus to custom designed coifs and gowns (not that she needed any help in the beauty department). While Judy and Carol compete for soda-jerk Steve (Robert Stack).
