A Player Character Wants to be the Villain in Their D&D Game| GM 911
Here we have case of the Game Master just being to nice and not wanting to tell a player "NO". Unfortunately it seems like this player wants to blur the lines between player characters, non-player characters, and the monsters. There is reason that the game has a players handbook, a dungeon masters guide, and a monster manual. There are ways for a player to become a villain or work for the other side or even have goals that run opposite of the adventuring party, but direct conflict and head to head isn't likely to end well. Not to mention as the dungeon master we generally accept our monsters and NPCs are going to lose at some point.
