A Tribute to Donkey Kong Country is a 2D platformer that, as its name suggests, pays tribute to the legendary Donkey Kong Country, recreating the famous Super Nintendo game with Unreal Engine 3. The result, of course, is spectacular. The gameplay is virtually identical to the original: players start each level as Donkey Kong and can jump and roll on the ground to kill their enemies. You can also encounter Diddy King along the way and have him help you on your adventure, which essentially gives you an extra life.
The levels in A Tribute to Donkey Kong Country aren't exactly like those in the original game, but they are very similar. However, the objective remains the same: reach the end safely and try to collect all the bananas along the way. You'll also encounter red balloons, barrels, and tires.
The most stunning part of A Tribute to Donkey Kong Country is its graphics, powered by Unreal Engine 3. The game looks stunning, and while the levels can be a bit dark at times, there's a world of difference between these graphics and the original 2D version.
A Tribute to Donkey Kong Country is a great platformer, and while it's still in its early stages of development, it's still a fun experience.
