Hardware

⭕Chipset
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max feature a new A16 Bionic system on a chip (SoC), built on TSMC's N4 fabrication process,[13][14] superseding the A15 Bionic seen on the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro lineup, the 3rd generation iPhone SE, and the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus.

⭕Camera
The camera sensors and lenses have been upgraded this year for the main camera and ultra-wide camera. The main camera features a new 48 megapixel quad-pixel sensor that is 65% larger than the one on the iPhone 13 Pro. The ultra-wide camera features a new larger 12 megapixel sensor that has 100% Focus Pixels. The lens has also been improved for optical clarity and features a larger aperture.

Apple now uses a new "Photonic Engine" for better image and video quality, and for video, it now has a video stabilization feature called Action Mode. The TrueDepth camera now has autofocus and a larger aperture. It has gained the ability to focus on multiple subjects at once.

⭕Display
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have a Super Retina XDR OLED display with a max brightness of 1,000 nits (typical), peak brightness of 1,600 nits (HDR), and peak brightness of 2,000 nits (outdoor). The display also has a refresh rate of 120 Hz, with LTPO technology. The iPhone 14 Pro has a resolution of 2556×1179 pixels at 460 ppi, while the Pro Max variant has a resolution of 2796×1290 pixels at 460 ppi. They have a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating with support for display of multiple languages and characters simultaneously. Both variants also support the "always on display" feature.[15] The adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate can reduce down to 1 Hz to save battery life whilst in “Always On” mode.[16]

The tab-shaped "notch" containing the front-facing camera has been replaced by two rounded cut-outs, slightly detached from the top of the screen; in software, they are camouflaged by a black rounded rectangle via the "Dynamic Island" feature.[17]

⭕Battery
The iPhone 14 Pro has a 3200mAh battery that provides 23 hours of video playback and 20 hours of streaming video playback. The Pro Max variant has a 4323mAh battery that provides 29 hours of video playback and 25 hours of streaming video playback.[18][19]

⭕Software

iOS 16 on the iPhone 14 Pro supports a feature known as "Dynamic Island", which displays hardware and system-level notifications, media playback data, and other app-specific "live activities" as indicators on either side of the camera and sensor cut-outs, They are rendered on a black rounded rectangle, providing the illusion that the cut-out is expanding and contracting.[20] For example, notifications for incoming calls appear in a banner that stretches out horizontally from the sensors, while Face ID indicators drop down vertically from the sensor cutout rather than appearing in the center of the display as on previous models. The Dynamic Island can also be tapped to view additional details; for example, ongoing activities like Maps directions or sports scores can also be expanded by tapping and holding the area.[21][17]

These are the first ever iPhones to have Always-On Display. When it is on, the lockscreen dims down to very low level and display refresh rate drops to 1hz.[22
