In this scenario, it's probably best to keep Regenleif next to your starting dwarves on the gold and at the tree for the Nidhogg that comes later on.

The rest of your army should go north and clear out the enemy forces but retreat if you are losing your heroes. On the East side, your heroes should go north, while there is a bit of gold to the west of that starting position if you need more. Once the other hammer half is free from the treeroot, bring both together to complete the level.
