Alien 3: The Gun (Arcade) - Longplay
Finally being able to see the entirety of arcade games now that I'm not confined to the $1 bill I got to put in the change machine in the 80s-90s is great! I love all light gun games, but tended to prefer the ones with detachable guns, not the mounted ones like Operation Wolf and this. What makes up for it is the nonstop action and great use of the IP to bring every Xenomorph type in your face. It's funny because the movie Alien 3 only had one Xeno, this thing has hundreds! It seems to be a pretty fair game too, I could see with a little practice being able to complete it with just a few credits. It's no Time Crisis, but this is a quality light gun game.
Alien 3: The Gun is an arcade rail shooter game released by Sega in 1993, loosely based on the Alien 3 movie. Players assume the roles of Colonial Marines battling through hordes of Xenomorphs and other alien creatures. Using mounted light guns, players move through a series of fast-paced levels set in dark, industrial environments reminiscent of the film's eerie prison planet.
The game employs first-person, on-rails movement, meaning the player does not control their character’s direction but focuses solely on aiming and shooting. Players are tasked with eliminating waves of enemies, destroying eggs, rescuing prisoners, and facing off against larger, more dangerous creatures like the Alien Queen. The game features cooperative two-player gameplay, allowing both players to fight side by side.
Alien 3: The Gun stands out with its atmospheric graphics, intense action, and eerie sound design that mirrors the claustrophobic and unsettling tone of the Alien universe. While it deviates significantly from the plot of the movie, it captures the high-octane, survival-focused essence of the Alien franchise.
