This is an AMD Ryzen 3300X + B550 gaming PC build 'template' that costs anywhere from $650 to $900, depending on alternative components. Benchmarks and options tested and included.

Our new approach to PC build guides features them as what we're calling "templates." Rather than a firm list of what you should buy, because the nature of PC building is so variable and modular and there's always something better, we're offering a list of benchmarks with a base platform. This compiles data from multiple reviews, collects new data, and shows upgrade pathways on the base build. You could assemble this PC, depending on things like GPU & cooler purchases, for anywhere from $600 to $900. We're using the cheapest B550 motherboard that we've yet received (there are others, of course) to test it out. Because we're taking this PC build template approach, the price could drop lower from ditching the aftermarket cooler, downgrading the GPU (big price drop from that), changing the RAM, etc. Could also easily scale up with a 2070 Super or 5700 XT.

PC Build Template Baseline Parts Used

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3300X on Amazon - https://geni.us/eHNvbh
Motherboard: ASUS B550 TUF Gaming Plus on Amazon - https://geni.us/BWJcPA
Alternative: MSI B550 Tomahawk on Amazon - https://geni.us/yBT9
GPU: EVGA RTX 2060 KO on Amazon - https://geni.us/RWJ7jLI
Case: Phanteks P300A on Amazon - https://geni.us/E5mWsN (BUY AN EXTRA FAN OR TWO)
RAM: Teamgroup T-Force Dark Z 16GB 3600 on Amazon - https://geni.us/A5jOMzN
Cooler is optional and there are tons of options. The aftermarket one we used is the be quiet! Shadow Rock 3 (Amazon) - https://geni.us/slhcB

PSU: Corsair CV450 (Amazon) - https://geni.us/ONNw -- We'd recommend 450W-500W for a similar build, more if planning to pull the PSU forward. You could get away with 400W, but the quality of 400W PSUs is often disproportionately lower than 450W-500W PSUs.
SSD: You'll need an SSD as the primary drive, ideally. We didn't test any specific SSDs for this content, but you could go up to Gen4 if desired. Not really necessary for a build of this price range.
